Johanna Schwarzbeck grew up in Austria's pristine countryside in the alpine region in 1963. She emigrated to the United Staats in 1986, beginning her adult life in a new world.
Johanna's artwork is born out of an emotional and cultural experience. One of her favorite themes is the depiction of social and personal unjust situations, typically with a humorous eye or in disguise.
Ms. Schwarzbeck uses at times appropriations in her art to contemplate history, reframe ideas, generate conversation, and produce new ways of thinking, exploring, and informing.
Johanna lives and works in Austria and New York City; she invites you to look at her creations and enter her visual world!
